Why is Alice in Wonderland so dark?
Alice in Wonderland definitely has a dark side. Carroll sees childhood as a dangerous place, shadowed by the threat of death. The Queen of Hearts ritually demands everyone’s head, especially Alice’s – “Off with her head!” The adults in Wonderland are powerful, but often absurd.

Why did people not like Alice in Wonderland?
At the time, people found Alice difficult to connect with on anything beyond a superficial level. The film received grand complaints about its animation, as well. Though beautiful and intricately drawn, many of the character animations differ from the original renderings of John Tenniel.
